2 suspects arrested in connection with house arson in Irbid

AMMAN — Two suspects were arrested in connection with a house fire in Irbid, the Public Security Directorate’s (PSD) spokesperson said on Saturday.

After receiving a report on Friday about a house fire west of Irbid, security personnel rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported, citing the PSD spokesperson. No injuries were reported.

Initial investigations indicated arson as the cause of fire and detectives were able to zero in on the two suspects with criminal records, according to the spokesperson. 

The suspects were arrested and during questioning, they confessed to deliberately setting the house on fire in retaliation for a dispute with the owner, the spokesperson said, noting that the suspects were referred to the judiciary.
