Kerosene tax frozen, prices lowered to JD0.620/litre

AMMAN — In implementation of Royal directives to freeze the tax imposed on kerosene, and following Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh's confirmation that the government will freeze the tax immediately, stakeholders directed the fuel derivatives pricing committee to implement the decision.

Following Royal directives, the committee held a meeting on Monday in which the decision to freeze the tax on kerosene was made. The committee subsequently informed the relevant companies on the decision.

The decision reduces the price of one litre of kerosene by JD0.165 to be sold at JD0.620, instead of JD0.785, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Following the decision, a 20-litre container will now be priced at JD12.4, down from JD15.7, a difference of JD3.3.

The premier said earlier that the government will implement the Royal directives to not increase kerosene prices, even if the international price increases through the end of the winter season. Khasawneh pledged that the government will lower the price if international prices decrease.
