AMMAN — The confirmation of the Arab Media Ministers Consultative Meeting of the Arab League, held in Tripoli on Saturday, to maintain Jerusalem as the permanent capital of the Arab media was an important media decision to expose Israel’s judaisation practices in occupied Jerusalem, Secretary General of the Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs Abdullah Kanaan said on Monday.
In a statement, Kanaan stressed that this confirmation is important to expose the serious attacks against Palestinians in the occupied city that threaten the Arab cultural identity of Jerusalem, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He added that the occupation, through its Zionist schemes, seeks to "erase, falsify and impose a full Jewish identity on the city, based on "Talmudic lies that Israel promotes through global media it controls, and it tries to falsify facts".
The secretary general also referred to the importance of an integrated Arab media strategy to support Palestinians’ historical right to self-determination and preserve their deep-rooted historical identity, especially that Palestinians, and their land, holy sites and identity were subjected to systematic daily attacks.
Kanaan said that the committee, as part of Arab media efforts concerned with the Palestinian issue in general and Jerusalem in particular, stresses that the world's media and international public opinion were an important space to defend Palestine and Jerusalem.
He pointed out that the committee, based on Jordan's unaltered historical position and role, and as part of the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, believes that all international events and celebrations constitute an important opportunity and platform to defend Palestine and Jerusalem.
