Suspects arrested in connection with ‘black dollars’ scam

AMMAN — Personnel at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have received a tip about threeAfrican nationals who allegedly defrauded people by “black dollars” scam at rates lower than the market price, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson said on Thursday.
Confirming the tip, security agents raided the residence of the suspects and arrested them in possession of “large amounts” of black papers cut into the size of currency as well as other materials used in the plot, the spokesperson added in a PSD statement.
After investigation, the suspects confessed to trying to defraud people by convincing them that they have valuable black dollars.
The PSD renewed its warnings to citizens about the black dollars, stressing that any person claiming to have black dollars is a fraudster.
