AMMAN — Anti-smuggling personnel at the Jordan Customs Department (JCD) have thwarted an attempt to smuggle large quantities of e-cigarette flavours, which were secretly hidden inside a 19-tonne charcoal shipment on a truck, the JCD announced on Sunday.
Director of the anti-smuggling section at the JCD Col. Raed Shiab said the smuggled liquid tobacco were seized thanks to anti-smuggling agents' "intensive intelligence gathering efforts," the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He said that the truck came from an Arab country and was heading to a merchant's warehouse, adding that the case was referred to concerned authorities.
JCD Director General, Maj. Gen. Jalal Qudah praised the "relentless" efforts of the customs personnel who work round the clock.
