AMMAN — The Lower House on Monday embarked on its deliberations of the Children Rights draft law for 2022.
During a session, Lower House Speaker Abdulkarim Al Dughmi praised the efforts of the joint ad hoc committee of legal affairs and women’s and family affairs in improving the bill, warning that some organisations receive foreign funds for interfering in the legislation process, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
MPs endorsed Item 1 of the bill related to the name of the law: "Children Rights Law for 2022", which will be enforced 90 days after its publication in the Official Gazette.
The bill is in response to the new constitutional amendments that focus on protecting childhood and enhancing the protection of children and their care through special legislation.
The draft law also follows the Kingdom's ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which requires implementing legislative and administrative procedures to uphold the rights mentioned in the convention.
