AMMAN — HH Prince Mired, president of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, on Sunday met with Airport International Group (AIG) CEO Nicolas Claude to discuss modifying Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) to guarantee complete accessibility to people with disabilities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The prince stressed the need for a coordinated effort to ensure airport accessibility, highlighting stakeholder commitment as the cornerstone of rendering Jordan a regional and international model for empowering people with disabilities. Considering accessibility in national construction blueprints reflects a strong commitment to pursue best practices and allow people with disabilities access to all services, Prince Mired said.
The two sides concurred to train all airport employees on best communication practices for individuals with disabilities. In early 2019, the Housing Ministry and the council proposed a 10-year national plan to redress the conditions of existing public buildings and facilities to create an environment free of physical obstructions to individuals with disabilities.
