AMMAN — Ditmir Bushati, Albania's former foreign minister, on Wednesday shared his country's experience in boosting investment and attracting investors.
The remarks were made during a consultative session held by the Senate's Finance and Economic Committee on effective investment policy.
The event, held in cooperation with the US National Democratic Institute (NDI), prior to the upcoming parliamentary deliberations over the new investment law, witnessed the participation of members of both chambers of parliament, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Bushati highlighted Albania's success in attracting and maintaining investment by providing a "stable" work environment, and controlling financial conditions and improving regional cooperation.
He also highlighted the efforts of Albania, which is no closer to joining the EU, towards investing in infrastructure, creating a productive workforce, launching vocational training, reforming the educational system, and introducing a fair tax system to boost the investment climate.
Albania has facilitated procedures by establishing Albania's National Single Window (NSW), meant to enhance the government's contact and cooperation with the business sector, he added, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Bushati also reviewed his country's investment policies, based on the state's capabilities, natural resources and strategic location, highlighting the adopted legislation that stimulates investment, the business climate and ease market access.
Bushati served as Albania's Minister of Foreign Affairs for the period 2013 -2017, during which progress in investment policy was made.
