AMMAN — During its participation in the Algiers International Fair, the Jordanian delegation, consisting of representatives of 23 industrial companies, discussed obstacles that prevent the flow of exports to Algeria, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The delegation called for operating direct flights between the Jordanian and Algerian capitals, stressing the importance of developing economic cooperation in various fields by stimulating trade and investment. Head of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry Fathi Jaghbir described the volume of trade between Jordan and Algeria as "absolutely unsatisfactory".
Jaghbir stressed the importance of increasing the volume of trade exchange, which did not exceed $200 million in 2021, as well as providing customs exemptions on goods and establishing industrial trade between the two countries.
The delegation held meetings with businesspeople, investors, industrialists and officials, in the presence of Minister of Industry and Trade Yousef Shamali and Jordanian Ambassador to Algeria Shaker Omoush.
