AMMAN — The Water Ministry, in a statement on Sunday, said that its supervisory control and data-acquisition monitoring system (SCADA), detected a decrease in the water quantities in the Zara main waterline with a capacity of 100 cubic metres per hour (m3/h).
Miyahuna inspection staff working on Friday in the Faqed Directorate organised a campaign in coordination with the Public Security Directorate (PSD), where several violations were detected. Large quantities of water were siphoned to supply farms and fill tanks, read the statement.
Violations were reported along the main waterline of the Zara main station in the Rama area between station (1) and station (2), where Miyahuna removed illegal fixtures.
The Water Ministry urged the public to cooperate, especially throughout the critical water conditions experienced by the sector as a result of shortage.
The ministry stressed that violations impacting water sources are a crime punishable by imprisonment for long periods and large fines.
