AMMAN — The Jordan Customs Department (JCD) staff at the Jaber border crossing with Syria, in cooperation with the security bodies and Anti-Narcotics Department (AND), on Saturday foiled two drug smuggling attempts.
After ordering that a suspicious truck loaded with plastic pipes be searched via X-ray, customs officials seized 148kg of Captagon, some 880,000 narcotic pills, according to a JCD statement.
The JCD said that 80kg, nearly 480,000 narcotic pills, were found hidden in a “secret compartment” inside another truck coming from a neighbouring Arab country. The seized items were referred to AND to proceed with legal actions, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
