AMMAN — Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al Kadhimi  and Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yousef Shamali on Wednesday met over advancing bilateral relations and enhancing regional coordination.

The meeting notably covered food security and dealing with global food price hikes among other current economic challenges.

During the Baghdad-held meeting, Kadhimi stressed the "deep-rooted, historic" Jordanian-Iraqi relations, highlighting the ways to bolster bilateral cooperation to serve common interests.

In a statement issued by Ministry of Industry, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Kadhimi conveyed his greetings to Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh, stressing the need to push forward efforts to strengthen cooperation in various fields.

Shamali expressed Jordan's keenness to increase cooperation with Iraq in all fields to serve common interests and avail the available opportunities and the agreements signed between the sides.

The output of the tripartite summits that brought together His Majesty King Abdullah, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Kadhimi, is seen as a motivation to build “effective” economic partnerships that serve the three countries’ shared interests, he added.
