AMMAN — A high-ranking US economic and trade delegation from Nebraska is scheduled to begin a working visit to Jordan on Tuesday to review the Kingdom’s available commercial and investment opportunities, Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) Chairman Nael Kabariti announced on Saturday.

The delegation’s visit, which is headed by Nebraska Secretary of State Robert Evnen, comes under the theme: "Innovation, Sustainability and Food Security", and is organised by the JCC in cooperation with the National US–Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC), the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Nebraska, located in Midwest US, is a major producer of food and agricultural products, and is known for its manufacturing and ICT fields.

The delegation includes business owners representing pharmaceuticals, medical laboratories, home health care, water management and sustainability, and agricultural products.

Additionally, the delegation represents the sectors of food and catering companies, agricultural engineering, irrigation and environmentally friendly technologies, consultancy in higher education and university enrollment services, and legal advisers specialised in immigration affairs, information technology and cyber security.

A workshop will be held next Wednesday to discuss Jordan's investment opportunities, privileges and areas of joint economic cooperation with Nebraska.

Kabariti lauded the high level of the "historic and political friendship" between Jordan and the US, stressing the Kingdom's keenness to enhance its trade with the US and raise the level of economic cooperation.

He referred to the JCC's “active” role through the Washington DC-based NUSACC membership, which was established more than half a century ago, and is the oldest US service organisation dedicated to Arab-US business. The organisation has relations with more than 25,000 companies interested in trade between the Arab world and the US.

Jordan's exports to the US during the first 11 months of 2021 increased by 34.6 per cent to around JD1.460 billion, compared with JD1.085 billion during the same period in 2020.
