Royal Directives: 391 charities receive Royal support on King’s birthday

AMMAN — A total of 391 charity associations, centres and institutions concerned with caring for orphans, the elderly and people with disabilities on Thursday received Royal support on the occasion of His Majesty King Abdullah’s 60th birthday. 

The Royal support aims to enable these institutions to continue offering qualitative services to targeted people and enhancing their development and social roles across the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.  

His Majesty is keen to launch initiatives that contribute to the development of citizens’ lives and developing the level of services according to a clear vision and fixed timetables, which are implemented in cooperation and partnership with various state institutions.

Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi, head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, during the virtual handover ceremony, said that the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic “did not stop us” from continuing the implementation of Royal initiatives, including this one.

Issawi stressed that charity institutions are considered a strategic partner in the social and development action through implementing development and service programmes and activities that help the efforts of the public sector according to standards based on integration and cooperation.

He noted that over the next years, a larger number of institutions will be included in this initiative to support them to implement their message and enhance their role as a development arm for public stakeholders.

The Royal court chief also said that this initiative, which marks 12 years of inception, is just part of a series of other Royal initiatives that has had a direct positive impact in enabling charity institutions and helping them achieve their goals of enhancing social protection.

Social Development Minister Ayman Mufleh said that the persistence of these Royal initiatives, which check on citizens’ concerns and play a role in developing the level and quality of services, highlights the “Hashemite approach” in offering support to various charity institutions.

Heads of beneficiary institutions expressed their appreciation of King Abdullah’s initiative that reflects his keenness to enable the targeted groups to implement their role in the best way possible, highlighting the importance of continuing with such initiatives despite the circumstances facing the Kingdom due to the pandemic.
