487 charitable organisations receive Royal support on King’s birthday

AMMAN — On the occasion of His Majesty King Abdullah's birthday, 487 charity organisations, centres, and non-profit entities that care for orphans, the elderly and disabled individuals received annual Royal support.

Falling within a Royal initiative launched in 2011, the annual support aims to enable the institutions to continue providing quality services to target groups, and enhance their social and developmental role across the Kingdom.

The organisations are selected annually based on criteria set by the Ministry of Social Development.

Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi, head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, during the handover ceremony at the Royal Court on Saturday, said that these organisations are “strategic partners” in social development operations, adding that "they work towards implementing programmes and activities that support the public sector's drive towards social development and volunteer work".

The initiative intends to reach targeted groups in all regions and involve the largest number of these organisations possible, he said.

Issawi added that the continuation of this initiative underlines the progress of realising the Royal vision, and the ongoing guidance in ensuring dignified living standards for targeted groups and providing them with quality services, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
