AMMAN — Under the patronage of HRH Princess Reem, the Jordan Media Institute (JMI) on Tuesday launched the "Captain Media" application, an educational game played in Arabic, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The institute said that the game aims to empower young people between the ages of 14 and 16, and raise their awareness and critical thinking abilities by providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate digital spaces.
The game can be downloaded from the Apple, Google Play and Huawei applications, and is part of a two-year project titled “Storytelling: Giving Youth a Voice in Media”, implemented by the Jordan Media Institute, in partnership with the company Carnegie Corporation New York and PBS NewsHour.
Princess Reem said that the game was developed to meet the urgent need for this media education, which allows entertainment and the sharing of ideas, viewpoints, ideologies and others, after filtering it to distinguish between facts and propaganda, truth and false, incomplete or misleading information, and digitally manipulated content and original content.
The princess stressed the importance of media education, which has become a crucial aspect of daily life in light of the steady growth in access to digital content.
