Jordan sees increase in tourist flights after low-cost airline agreements — JTB

AMMAN — Jordan has witnessed an increase in tourist flights after resuming the flights of low-cost airlines with whom the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) signed agreements to attract tourists to the Kingdom, JTB Director General Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat said on Monday.

Arabiyat said that Jordan welcomed 50 flights carrying tourists from various European countries over the past week, according to a JTB statement.

These flights were operated by EasyJet and Ryanair, he said.

He expects the number of tourist to increase even more once Wizz Air starts operations in mid-December.

Arabiyat noted that the low-costs airlines are considered an important aspect to increase tourist numbers and develop the economy through bringing in more tourism income.

He also referred to the ongoing efforts by the JTB, the Tourism Ministry and airline companies to ensure the project’s sustainability, which is envisioned to make Jordan a preferential destination for tourism.

Arabiyat noted that the JTB, in cooperation with the ministry, seeks to resume all types of tourism after the Kingdom suffered a drop in tourist numbers due to the pandemic.
