AMMAN — The State Security Court (SSC) on Monday held its first public hearing of former MP Osama Ajarmeh’s case.

The charge sheet against Ajarmeh, and the other defendants includes plotting subversive acts and inciting armed riots, in addition to charges of threatening His Majesty King Abdullah’s life and manufacturing flammable substances with illicit terrorist intent.

During Monday’s session, the court read the indictment to the defendants who pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The court adjourned the session until September 14 to hear the prosecution witnesses, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. On June 6, the Lower House of Parliament voted to expel MP Ajarmeh following an emergency session to vote on a memo, submitted by 109 deputies, to oust him from the chamber.
