Kingdom's trade balance deficit increases 24.6% in first half of 2021 — DoS

AMMAN — The Kingdom's trade balance deficit increased during the first half of 2021 by 24.6 per cent, to reach JD3.79 billion, compared with the same period in 2020 that stood at JD3.047 billion, according to the Department of Statistics' (DoS) figures.

According to a report on foreign trade in Jordan issued by the DoS on Wednesday, the volume of total exports in the January-June period of 2021 increased by 19.6 per cent, to reach JD3,018 billion, compared with the same period of 2020, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

National exports in the first six months of 2021 increased by 23.1 per cent to reach JD2.723 billion, compared with the same period of last year, Petra reported.

The report also revealed that re-exports stood at JD295.2 million in the first six months of 2021, marking a 5.4-per cent drop, compared with the same period of 2020.

Jordan's imports in the first half of 2021 rose by 22.3 per cent, to reach JD6.815 billion, compared with JD5.571 billion in the same period of last year, the DoS’s figures showed.
