Trade deficit increased by 30.2% as of October 2022 — DoS

AMMAN — The Kingdom's trade deficit increased during the first 10 months of 2022 by 30.2 per cent, to JD9.129billion, compared with the same period in 2021 that stood at JD 7.010 billion, the Department of Statistics (DoS) said on Thursday.

According to a DoS report on foreign trade, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the volume of total exports in the January-October period of 2022 increased by 39.1 per cent to JD 7.412 billion, compared with the same period of 2021, when it stood at JD5.330 billion.

The value of national exports also increased during the first 10 months of the year by 40.7per cent, or JD6.822 billion, compared with the same period of 2021, when it stood at JD4.847 billion, the DoS data showed.

The report also revealed that the value of reexports stood at JD589.9 million, marking an increase of 22.1 per cent, compared with the same period of 2021, which registered a value of JD483 million.

Jordan's imports in the first 10 months of 2022 rose by 34 per cent to JD16.541 billion, compared with JD12.341 billion in the corresponding period of 2021, the DoS figures showed.

At the monthly level, the national exports of the Kingdom in October 2022 reached JD631.1 million, up by 11.8 per cent compared with the same month of 2021.
