AMMAN — The Arab Potash Company (APC) on Sunday agreed to double exports to the Egyptian Evergrow Group for specialty fertiliser as of June to reach some 300,000 tonnes during 2022. The two sides, during a visit conducted by a delegation headed by the group’s chairman Mohammed Al Khishin, discussed means of advancing cooperation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The expected increase in potash demand came after Evergrow secured a $400-million loan, which would allow it to increase its imports to complete its third expansion project. APC Chairman Shehada Abu Hudaib highlighted the importance of furthering Jordanian-Egyptian economic relations.
APC is the sole potash supplier to Evergrow, APC CEO Maen Nsour said, noting that the supply increased from 5,000 tonnes in 2008, to some 180,000 in 2008 per year, to reach 300,000 in 2022. Khishin, for his part, expressed Evergrow’s intention to enhance partnership with the APC through establishing joint projects in the near future to cover the nitrogen needs of Jordan’s major fertiliser companies.
