AMMAN — Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent a congratulatory message to His Majesty King Abdullah on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the state of Jordan, according to an Indian embassy statement.

In his video message, Modi expressed his heartiest congratulations and warm greetings to His Majesty King Abdullah and the people of Jordan.  The Indian prime minister hailed the far-sighted leadership of His Majesty under which Jordan has achieved sustainable and inclusive growth, and remarkable developments in economic and socio-cultural fields.

Highlighting the key role played by His Majesty King Abdullah in promotion of peace in West Asia, Modi noted that Jordan has emerged as a powerful voice and global symbol of moderation in an important region of the world.

Modi fondly recalled the historic visit of King Abdullah to India in 2018, during which His Majesty had reiterated the Amman message of 2004 of tolerance, unity and respect for human dignity for promoting regional peace and security.

Modi stressed that India and Jordan were united in the belief that moderation and peaceful co-existence were essential for peace and prosperity, adding that the two sides would continue to walk side by side in their joint efforts for a greater future for all humanity.

On this special occasion, Ambassador of India to Jordan Anwar Haleem conveyed his warm wishes and felicitations to the government and the people of Jordan.

The ambassador expressed his hope that under the visionary leaderships of the two countries, the close and multifaceted ties between the countries would be further strengthened and reach even greater heights in the years ahead, according to the embassy statement.
