AMMAN — The government on Tuesday announced new measures to combat the recent surge in coronavirus cases in the Kingdom.
Work of all vocational training centres will be suspended as of Wednesday until April 1, 2021, Minister of State for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson Sakher Dudin said during a press briefing at the Prime Ministry along with Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mohammad Khair Abu Qudais.
In contrast, daycares will continue providing services, Dudin said, stressing that inspection tours will be intensified to guarantee the safety of children and workers.
He added that additional preventive and restrictive measures will be taken in the upcoming days based on what will be agreed upon during the Cabinet's meeting on Wednesday.
Abu Qudais highlighted that in-class education for students of all levels at schools will be suspended until further notice.
Both the academic and administrative staffs at schools will continue working with a minimum percentage of employees to ensure the workflow, he noted.
In-campus teaching for college and university students who were previously excluded from the distance learning decision due to the practical and technical nature of their studies will be suspended as of Wednesday until April 1.
The said decision includes students majoring in the different branches of medicine, pharmacy and nursing.
