Cabinet approves discount on property taxes, GAM fees with conditions

AMMAN — The Cabinet on Sunday approved offering a discount on taxes, fees, royalties and compensations, as well as exemptions including due fines for the Ministry of Local Administration and the Greater Amman Municipality.
Under the decision, a deduction was granted on the property taxes, as well as sewage fees imposed in 2021 and the previous years for residential and agricultural buildings by 10 per cent for cash payments, while 15 per cent for e-payments, until the end of June 30, 2021.
The reduction also included the commercial and industrial buildings, as well as investment and tourism facilities by 20 per cent for cash payments, while 25 per cent for e-payments, until the end of June 30, 2021.
The exemption also included overdue property tax fines for the previous years if the payment is made before the end of June 30, 2021.
Also on Sunday, the Cabinet decided to reduce the number of the board members of various government-owned companies, by two members for each company.
The decision included the Government Investment Management Company, the Wadi Araba Development Company, the Aqaba Railway Corporation, the Jordan Uranium Mining Company, the Jordan Airports Company, the Jordan Post Company, the Jordan Numbering Association, and the Garment Design and Training Services Centre.
The Council of Ministers also decided to abolish the board of directors of the Aqaba Transport and Logistics Company, to be directly managed by the Board of Commissioners of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority’s Transport Directorate.
