AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday visited Technical Fibre Optics Lines factory (techline), and Al Masiya Smart Farms in southern Amman.
King Abdullah toured the factory and commended the success of Jordanian investors in Jordan and abroad, as well as their role in creating job opportunities for Jordanians, according to a Royal Court statement.
His Majesty was briefed on the factory, which exports 80 per cent of its production to Arab and European countries and provides 80 job opportunities, with an additional 150 expected with the expansion into 5G technology.
The factory is the second of its kind in the Middle East, after its Jordanian investor opened a branch in Riyadh and returned to invest in Jordan.
At Al Masiya Smart Farms, the King was briefed on the aquaponics system utilised in the farms as part of the latest agricultural solutions, and noted the importance of agricultural projects that use unconventional methods.
The farms, which extend over 30 dunums at an investment value of JD500,000 in infrastructure, produce 20 tonnes of fish and 80 tonnes of vegetables annually and save nearly 80 per cent in water consumption compared with traditional agricultural projects.
