PM meets with president of Arab Contractors Union

AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh on Wednesday met with President of Arab Contractors Union Ali Sanafi, who is also head of the Iraqi Contractors Federation (ICF).

During the meeting attended by Minister of Public Works and Housing Yahya Al Kasbi and President of the Jordanian Construction Contractors Association (JCCA) Ahmad Yacoub, the premier emphasised the government’s support for constructions field, a major “engine” of economic sectors, highlighting efforts to enhance the sector’s capabilities in exporting engineering consultancy services and taking part in reconstruction activities in neighbouring countries.

Khasawneh also drew attention to the need of building on his recent visit to Iraq to further enhance the two nations cooperation, as part of the Jordan, Egypt and Iraq tripartite partnership, underlining Amman’s interest in supporting Baghdad’s reconstruction efforts.  

A Jordanian delegation, headed by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, comprising representatives of the private sector, is scheduled to visit Baghdad to get through the available reconstruction opportunities and other areas of cooperation, he added, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Sanafi referred to the Council of Arab Housing and Construction Ministers’ approval related to giving priority for Arab companies in the post-war reconstruction activities, adding that Iraq has attached priority for Jordanian construction companies in this arena.
