AMMAN — During an online meeting held to follow up on the implementation of the national strategy for social protection for the years 2019-2025, Minister of Social Development Ayman Mufleh has stressed the importance of “networking and coordinating efforts between government organisations to maintain the lifeline of support to vulnerable families”.

Mufleh said that “all organisations and institutions concerned with social protection must coordinate with each other to ensure that the aid reach its beneficiaries”.

The minister highlighted the efforts made by the ministry during the coronavirus pandemic, saying that the ministry has “worked hard to provide social protection to eligible beneficiaries according to three axes: Decent work opportunities, social security and access to social services”.

During the meeting, the minister approved the creation of a coordination committee that will be tasked with synchronising the Kingdom’s various social protection efforts.

The committee consists of representatives from the ministries of Social Development, Labour, Education, Health, Finance, Youth, Planning and International Cooperation, the secretary general of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation, the government coordinator for human rights, and the general directors of the Social Security Corporation, the Zakat Fund, the National Aid Fund, Tkiyet Um Ali and the Jordan River Foundation.

In the meeting, which was attended by The Jordan Times, Mufleh met with members of the committee and representatives of the concerned social protection organisations, listening to the technical difficulties of adhering to the timeline of the national strategy, given the coronavirus crisis and its impact on various segments of society.
