Maaytah meets with EU ambassador

AMMAN — Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Musa Maaytah and EU Ambassador to Jordan Maria Hadjitheodosiou on Monday discussed means of developing the political process and democracy in Jordan.

The two sides discussed mechanism to support civil society institutions in creating a democratic environment based on political parties. Talks also went over means of handling the implications of the coronavirus pandemic, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Maaytah reviewed the ministry’s efforts to increase citizens’ participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections. 

The ambassador expressed the EU’s keenness to support the Kingdom’s democratic and political development, as well as women’s empowerment to increase their political participation and access to elected councils and decision-making positions.
