AMMAN — The Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD) on Monday condemned the alleged bullying and immoral comments on social media against a female activist with visual impairment.
The HCD also welcomed the announcement of some people with disabilities to run for the next parliamentary elections, according to a council statement sent to The Jordan Times.
The HCD said that the candidacy of people with disabilities enhances their right in political participation and the exercise of their constitutional rights on the basis of equality.
The council also voiced support to any person with disability who seeks "with honour" to practise their rights despite the environmental obstacles and negative attitudes against them.
