AMMAN — Mexican Ambassador to Jordan Roberto Hernandez on Saturday hailed bilateral relations, notably in the field of combating crime. Speaking during a press conference, the envoy praised Jordan’s expertise in fighting crime.
Highlighting that both countries enjoy an extradition treaty, he stressed the potential for furthering ties in numerous areas, especially in security and expertise exchange.
Underlining the Mexican government’s efforts in fighting organised crime, the envoy recalled the recent arrest of the ringleader of Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel — a notorious criminal organisation — along with his gang members, and the confiscation of money and weapons, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The ambassador also expressed his appreciation to Jordan for its regional role in achieving peace, reiterating Mexico’s support for the two-state solution to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Regarding the growing economic relations, especially in light of the free trade agreement, the Mexican ambassador expressed hopes that Mexico could serve as Jordan’s “gateway” to the Latin American market.
