Tawjihi begins today

AMMAN — The General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi) 2020 session will begin on Wednesday for 178,217 students.

This year’s Tawjihi exam is being held in two sessions per day, one starting at 10am and the second at 12 noon, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Among this year’s Tawjihi students, 104,931 are regular students and 73,286 are private-study applicants who will sit for the examination according to preventive measures taken by the Education Ministry in cooperation with the Health Ministry.

A total of 40,554 regular students and 22,482 private-study students are registered in the scientific stream, while the literary stream will see the participation of 53,616 regular students and 37,356 private-study students.

The national exam will be held in 1,846 halls in 720 schools across the Kingdom, and 42 halls are reserved in case of emergency.

A total of 57 applicants will sit for the national examination at correctional and rehabilitation centres in nine halls, while 485 students with disabilities and 10 applicants from the King Hussein Cancer Centre are scheduled to take the exam.

A total of 132,062 students are taking the exam on the first day.

Education Minister Tayseer Nuaimi said in previous remarks that the ministry had provided all the necessary safety and protection tools at exam halls to ensure flexible flow and a proper examination environment for students.
