Constant price GDP grew by 2.1% in 2019 — DoS

AMMAN — The constant price gross domestic product (GDP) for the fourth quarter of 2019 grew by 2.1 per cent, compared with the fourth quarter of 2018, and total GDP growth at constant prices reached 2.0 per cent in 2019 compared with 2018, according to the Department of Statistics (DoS).
Regarding production sectors, preliminary estimates of the constant price GDP for the fourth quarter of 2019 showed that the extractive industry sector achieved the highest growth rate during this period, reaching 5.2 per cent, followed by the transport, storage and communications sector with a growth rate of 3.5 per cent, the Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.
The social and personal services sector followed at a rate of 3.2 per cent and then the financial, insurance and real estate sector with a growth rate of 2.8 per cent.
In terms of sectoral contributions to the 2.1 per cent growth rate achieved during the fourth quarter of 2019, thefinancial, insurance and business services sector contributed 0.62 per cent, while the government services sector contributed 0.38 per cent.
The transport, storage and communications sector contributed 0.31 per cent, and the social and personal services sector contributed 0.22 per cent to the total achieved growth rate.
