AMMAN — Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Wissam Rabadi on Sunday said that he had conducted a slew of virtual meetings with representatives of donor countries and organisations to establish a Multi-Donor Account (MDA) with the aim of providing direct grants to the Kingdom’s development and social protection sector.
Rabadi said that the talks are part of the ministry’s efforts to mobilise support from donors to boost the government’s efforts in curbing and eliminating the novel coronavirus, according to a ministry statement.
The MDA aims at supporting the efforts of the Social Development Ministry in addressing the social repercussions of the current circumstances. Main donors, UN organisations and the World Bank are expected to contribute to the MDA, the ministry said. Social Development Minister Basma Ishaqat participated in the discussions.
