AMMAN — Around 350,000 families in Jordan have received financial and in-kind support during the curfew period, Minister of Social Development Basma Ishaqat announced on Sunday.
Ishaqat, who is also head of the social protection team, said in a press release that the ministry has taken various decisions to improve social protection for target segments as part of the government’s measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The social protection team designated a “coronavirus crisis fund” account at the Central Bank of Jordan to receive financial support for underprivileged families whose sources of income have been cut off as a result of the crisis. Ishaqat said the in-kind support will expand to reach another 150,000 families in cooperation with the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army.
