Ishaqat visits charities, underprivileged families during tour of Karak projects

AMMAN — Minister of Social Development Basma Ishaqat on Thursday checked on a number of charities, underprivileged families and projects in Karak.

Ishaqat highlighted the ministry’s keenness to support, assist and meet citizens’ needs, adding that the ministry seeks to develop productive projects which contribute to creating jobs for local communities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

During the visit, the minister met with local community representatives, inaugurated a comprehensive medical day at Al Hassan Specialised Clinics and visited Mujib Community Centre as well as a tailor’s shop in Qasr district, which helps women make extra income.

She was also briefed on the activities that Shahabiyah and Tameem Bin Aws charities have implemented to serve the local communities in Qasr district and Manshiyah town.

Ishaqat, during the visit, also provided financial and in-kind support to two families, who benefited from an underprivileged housing project.

She met Karak Governorate’s council and reviewed plans and projects for underprivileged families, including projects affiliated with the National Aid Fund, in addition to houses, grants and training.

Council President Sayel Majali outlined challenges facing the governorate including poverty and unemployment.
