AMMAN — Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi and his Dutch counterpart Stef Blok on Sunday discussed the results of steps taken by the two nations to increase cooperation on resolving regional crises and deepening the Jordanian-European partnership.

During talks in Amsterdam on Sunday, the two ministers affirmed that work will continue in broadening opportunities for cooperation in the economic, investment, tourism and defence fields, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

Safadi and Blok also stressed the importance of cooperation between the Kingdom and the Netherlands to combat terrorism, especially in the context of the Aqaba meetings launched by His Majesty King Abdullah as a platform to coordinate a comprehensive counterterrorism approach, a version of which was hosted by the Netherlands in 2018.

Safadi expressed his appreciation for the support provided by the Netherlands for Jordan’s development and efforts to address the Syrian refugee crisis, while Blok highlighted Jordan's pivotal role in achieving regional security and stability.

The two ministers also reviewed regional developments, including the Palestinian issue and efforts to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis and the situation in the Arab Gulf region.

Safadi also met Dutch National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism Pieter Aalbersberg to discuss cooperation in combatting terrorism.

In a discussion session organised by Clingendael, the Netherlands Institute of International Relations, Safadi reviewed the Kingdom's positions regarding regional issues and the efforts that His Majesty is leading to achieve security and stability in the region.
