8 held in possession of narcotics, firearms in Mafraq, Badia raids

AMMAN — The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) has arrested eight people on charges of possessing large quantities of narcotics and two firearms. The Public Security Department (PSD) said that AND personnel carried out a campaign on Tuesday morning targetting a number of drug traffickers in Mafraq and Northern Badia.
The PSD noted that during the campaign, three locations were raided, eight people were arrested and a large quantity of narcotics and two firearms were seized. The PSD added that during the first raid, three suspected drug traffickers were arrested, 5kg of hashish and one firearm were seized, while in the second raid, three people were arrested after being found to be in possession of a palm-sized sheet of hashish.
During the third raid, two suspects were arrested in possession of half a kilogrammes of heroin, an amount of narcotic crystal and a firearm, the PSD added.
