AMMAN — Families gathered at Abdali Boulevard on Sunday to join HRH Princess Rym Ali in marking the beginning of the Christmas season by lighting up a Christmas tree.
As part of the ceremony, a zip-lining Santa handed a large key to the princess, who used it to light the tree.
Princess Rym said that “the Christmas atmosphere in the Kingdom represents the fraternity between all segments of society, and the love and loyalty of the nation and its leader”, according to an organiser statement.
The event was hosted by the Abdali Group and featured Christmas decorations, music, a large “snow” slide, the lighting of the Christmas tree and more.
“Joint celebrations between the heavenly religions express the inherent nature of the bonds of brotherhood and cohesion within the Jordanian family,” Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abdali Investment and Development Munther Haddadin was quoted in the statement as saying.
The celebration includes 50 sellers of various products and exhibitions, daily musical performances and special activities for children to develop their talents and creativity in cooperation with the Zaha Cultural Centre.
This year’s Christmas celebrations feature a “distinctive and new artistic decor inspired by the winter, and modern designs with beautiful lights”, according to the statement.
After the lighting of the tree, the princess toured the bazaar and spoke to several shop owners.
