Gov’t team meets with jobseekers in Southern Badia, Maan

AMMAN — A government team on Wednesday met with jobseekers in Southern Badia in accordance with the Letter of Designation to address poverty and unemployment.

During the meeting, Labour Minister Samir Murad presented a briefing on the ministry’s employment programmes. The briefing touched on the national framework for empowerment and employment, which is planned to provide 30,000 jobs in the private sector. 

The minister noted that the framework has provided more than 3,500 jobs so far this year. 

The minister also spoke about the National Service programme and its goals, as well as several training and employment programmes the ministry implements, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Minister of Public Works and Housing Falah Omoush highlighted the ministry’s coordination with companies in the governorate to provide 500 jobs for residents of Maan and the Southern Badia and called on the residents to apply for the vacancies.

Civil Service Bureau President Nidal Batayneh stressed that the public sector was oversaturated with workers and that it was important to benefit from the private sector’s opportunities. 

In Maan, the team met with a group of young jobseekers, some of whom refused to continue the session and called on others to not take part as well. Members of the team tried to continue the meeting and urge attendees to stay, but the attendees insisted on leaving, according to Petra. 

Murad also visited several centres directed to receive jobseekers in Maan and the Southern Badia.

The Cabinet on Wednesday instructed the governmental team tasked with conducting tours, to continue meeting with job seekers to outline the available job opportunities.

Prime Minister Omar Razzaz stressed that reducing unemployment and creating jobs, employment and training opportunities for young people are one of the government’s top priorities, adding that the government will carry on with its efforts to reduce unemployment in implementation of His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives.
