AMMAN — Police said over the weekend that investigations have confirmed the case of the mother and her son, found shot in the Central Badia district on Thursday, was a murder-suicide.
Their bodies were found at their home in Um Al Qasir with gunshot wounds, Public Security Department (PSD) Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi said.
“After investigating the scene, inspectors determined that the man opened fire at his mother, then turned the gun on himself,” Sartawi told The Jordan Times.
A medical report indicated that the “mother was shot twice in the chest, while her son was shot once”, according to an official source, who preferred to remain anonymous.
Sartawi added that the criminal lab team examined the house and the evidence, and “ruled out homicide”.
The police official refused to elaborate on the cause of the shooting saying the situation was still under investigation.
The Criminal Court prosecutor is questioning the victim’s relatives and neighbours to uncover the full detail of the crime, he added.
