AMMAN — Opick Tomboati and Dik Doank, the humanitarian ambassadors of the Palestinian Friends Association, travelled for a humanitarian mission to Jordan and Palestine.

The humanitarian mission was organised by Qupro Indonesia with the assistance of the Indonesian embassy in Amman in collaboration with UNRWA and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation.

“The fundraising mission for Palestinian refugees has been carried out for the past 10 years and, this time, the distribution of the donations, $50,000, can be immediately handed over to Palestinian refugees in Jordan and, also, to Palestinians who are in dire need in Jerusalem,” Opick told Roger Davies, director of UNRWA operations in Jordan, in the presence of the Indonesian ambassador to Jordan, Andy Rachmianto.

Davies expressed his gratitude for the attention and concern of the Indonesian people for Palestinian refugees by mandating humanitarian assistance through UNRWA, a statement from the Indonesian embassy in Amman said.

The Indonesian ambassador also expressed his concern about the financial crisis facing UNRWA. “Indonesia will continue supporting fundraising to help UNRWA’s operations, both through the Indonesian government’s pledge, as well as from the Indonesian community, including artists and other art workers.”

“The struggle of the Palestinian people in achieving independence is a priority agenda in Indonesia’s foreign policy, which will continue to be encouraged through non-permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council,” the ambassador added.
