AND arrests 66 in drug-related cases

AMMAN — The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) on Sunday arrested 66 narcotic dealers and users and confiscated the various the various quantities of narcotics found in their possession, as well as firearms and antique coins, Public Security Department (PSD) Spokesperson Amer Sartawi said.
The statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported two arrests in the Irbid Governorate. 27 antique coins and 2,500 narcotic pills were seized. In Amman, 13 suspects were arrested including an Arab national listed as dangerous, and 13 more were arrested in the central Badia district, including another Arab national.
The PSD spokesperson added that 10 others were arrested in Madaba, and that one of them resisted arrest. Security forces also arrested five other suspects in Russeifa, two in the Balqa Governorate, in addition to other suspects across the Kingdom.
Sartawi said that all the suspects will be referred to State Security Court pending the results of the investigation.
