AMMAN — Energy Minister Hala Zawati and Education Minister Azmi Mahafzah on Thursday inaugurated a project to provide the Arjan High School in Ajloun with energy and renewable energy solutions.
Under the project, funded by a Canadian grant that includes 128 schools, the Arjan School was equipped with an electro-solar cell system with a capacity of 26 kilowatts and 41 energy-saving air conditioners installed in all classrooms and laboratories, according to an Energy Ministry statement.
The school was also equipped with 600-litre solar heaters and 656 energy saving LED light bulbs to replace conventional bulbs. Zawati said that similar projects at 10 schools in Jerash will be inaugurated next week, noting that such projects aim at reducing the expenditures of the Education Ministry.
Mahafzah said that the project is in line with the ministry’s efforts to provide a suitable educational environment.
A representative of the Canadian embassy highlighted the importance of the project for its positive impacts on the educational process.
