AMMAN — An experimental scientific programme using X-ray beamline and an Infrared (IR) beamline was launched on Tuesday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The International Centre for Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East (SESAME) director general, Khaled Toukan, said the centre received 55 scientific projects from the member states and other countries.
Toukan said that an international committee was selected to evaluate the projects submitted to SESAME in terms of their scientific and technical value, by using international standards applied at similar research centres worldwide.
He noted that the first research team of Synchrotron-light users participated in X-ray spectrum line experiments, which was the first SESAME radioactive line that went operational at the end of last year.
