AMMAN — A security source on Wednesday denied claims circulated on social media platforms that the man who recently died at a correctional centre had been beaten before his death, the Jordan News agency, Petra, reported.
The official said that the man, who was in detention since May 29 by the State Security Court’s prosecutor, died yesterday evening in the hospital due to a medical condition.
He added that his body has been transferred to the forensic department to determine the cause of death, noting that the body was examined by a medical committee consisting of three forensic doctors, in the presence of the Rusaifeh prosecutor.
The team concluded that the death was caused by a hole and a bleeding ulcer in the duodenum, while no traces of violence were recorded.
