Awqaf minister meets Thai delegation over ties

AMMAN — Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Abdul Nasser Abul Bassal on Sunday met with a delegation from Thailand headed by deputy chairman of the Council of Ulama (scholars) of Sheikh Al Islam in Thailand Prasan (Sharif) Sri Jarin.
During the meeting, Abu Basal stressed the importance of the delegation’s visit to Jordan which hosts a number of Thai students who study Islamic sciences and Arabic at local universities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Bassal underscored the ministry’s keenness on training imams and preachers, noting that it also organises workshops on the Amman Message to spread the principles of moderation and tolerance.
