AMMAN — Royal Court Secretary General Yousef Issawi on Thursday inaugurated several projects implemented in Irbid under Royal initiatives.
Issawi, who heads a committee that follows up on the implementation of Royal initiatives, inaugurated a social rehabilitation centre at the Azmi Mufti refugee camp, aimed at serving people with disabilities in the camp, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The facility will present services to more than 120 residents of the camp and of the surrounding areas, with a special focus on people suffering from mental and hearing disabilities, learning difficulties, autism and down syndrome, under the direct supervision of specialised staff, according to Petra.
Issawi also inaugurated an expansion project for a similar centre in Irbid Camp, which offers services to some 320 people. The project includes building a second floor of 140 square metres and furnishing it.
The secretary general, in the presence of Irbid Governor Radwan Otoum and Director of the Department of Palestinian Affairs Yaseen Abu Awwad, listened to a briefing from officials of both centres on the services presented to the beneficiaries, during which they praised the Royal initiatives on behalf of the beneficiaries’ families.
Issawi, in the presence of Health Minister Mahmoud Sheyyab, opened a 1,050-square-metre preliminary health centre in Teibah District’s Deir Al Saneh, which was fully equipped with modern medical and laboratory devices.
Both officials toured the centre’s facilities and listened to a briefing from stakeholders on the services presented to the 9,000 people residing in Deir Al Sanah.
The centre has clinics for maternity and childhood purposes, general medicine, dentistry, emergency as well as a pharmacy and a laboratory equipped with modern devices aimed at sparing patients the need to go to main hospitals in the governorate.
In an interview to Petra, Issawi said that these projects were implemented under directives of His Majesty King Abdullah, following previous meetings with Irbid residents.
He added that the centres at both camps will play an important role in increasing the level of services presented to people with disabilities and spare them efforts of visiting relatively far centres, according to Petra.
The Royal Court official praised the efforts of the institutions that helped in implementing these projects, especially the ministries of interior, health, public works and housing, in addition to the Department of Palestinian Affairs.
Sheyyab told Petra that establishing and developing health centres across the Kingdom under Royal initiatives play a role in enhancing the ministry’s services and reducing the financial burdens on citizens.
Abu Awwad expressed appreciation for Royal initiatives in providing social rehabilitation centres at both camps.
