AMMAN — The Social Security Corporation (SSC) on Tuesday announced that more than 220,000 workers are still not covered by social security, making them and their families “highly vulnerable” to poverty if they lose their jobs, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Additionally, the increasing demand for early retirement negatively affects the labour market and the national economy, leading to a heavy drain on the retirement bill, with early retirees accounting for 58 per cent of the SSC’s monthly pension bill.
The SSC also warned employers of the consequences of evading the coverage of any worker or not covering workers on the basis of their real wages or the duration of their work, Petra added.
