AMMAN — A pilot workshop of a three-year sports development project, initiated by the German federal ministry for economic cooperation and development, was held at the Jordan Football Federation over the weekend. The project is implemented by the Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
The orientation workshop focused on developing training methods for sports teachers from Amman, which were adapted to the physiological and psychological requirements and the social challenges of the children, Henning Schick, head of GIZ’s sport for development centre, said. The project is supported by the Asian Football Development Project and the German Football Association, as well as by the Jordanian Ministry of Education, organisers said.
Twenty-five physical education teachers took part in the event and exchanged expertise with German sports experts. The project aims to support teachers in their communities and to encourage children to take part in sport, “through tried and tested methodology which positively impacts the children’s personal development”, Schick said.
