AMMAN — Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel have arrested four suspects who allegedly attempted to scam traders through forged cheques, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Wednesday.
CID Jerash branch personnel received complaints from traders who were offered goods for cheques instead of cash in order to forge these cheques and increase their value, Petra quoted Public Security Department as saying.
When the authorities find out the cheque is bad, the blame falls on the trader, the source said, adding that investigations led to the arrest of four non-Jordanian suspects. The four suspects confessed to committing 28 scams. The CID warned traders about cheque fraud, especially when dealing with strangers who request cheques instead of cash.
